BH = Bomber Hanger

IMHO = In My Humble Opinion

CC=COPY, I acknowledge your statement. (cc of course being the old symbol for carbon copy dating back to the days before the photo copier.   )

CA - Heavy cruiser (armored cruiser)
DE - Destroyer Escort
CV - Fleet Carrier
PT - Partol Boat Torpedo

NP - No Problem

heh I know that this is nitpicking, but a Heavy Cruiser doesnt need at all to be armored, and the inverse also is true

Actually JimDandy, you're wrong there.  CC actually stands for 'click, click'.

You may be aware that pilots in combat situations will sometimes reply with two clicks on the microphone rather than give a verbal acknowledgement.

CC is just representative of those two clicks.  It has nothing to do with carbon copies

Thx. I was always under the impression it was like the cc at the bottom of the page that is being sent out to more than one person, carbon copy. Obviously yours must be right.   But it does stand for acknowledgement and rgr for yes. It's just a pet peeve of mine when people cc when the should rgr or vice versa. Silly aren't I.

I believe that Armoured and Light cruiser
CA and CL where distinctions that made scence when they were orginated. By WW2 they merely denote 6 inch or 8 inch gun. The same hull converted from 6 to 8 inch guns would be classed from a CL to CA.
Not to nitpick.
CA meant Cruiser Armoured.

Nope. Armored cruisers were pre-WWI ships, and were outdated by the time that the first Battlecruisers appeared. The last armored cruiser (arguably the best) was SMS Blücher, sunk in 1915...by battlecruisers  

the terms and differences  between "heavy cruiser" and "light Cruiser" were created in 1922, in the Washington Naval Treaty. As you say, were ships up to 10.000 tons, with 8' or 6' respectively. BUT BOTH KIND OF SHIPS COULD BE ARMORED. And in fact some light cruisers had more armor than some heavys.

the term "Armored Cruiser" was not used again after WWI, and the CA term has nothing to do with it AFAIK.
