I'm trying to figure out torpedos and anti-maritime missions in AH.

1) How fast do torpedos go?

2) How fast do ships travel?

3) How long are ships?

4) What units are icons in?

1. 39 to 40 mph. Im within .5 mph on this
2. 35 mph.
3. bout 1330 to 1350 ft.
4. Yards.

Yamato - 863 Ft. Long
Iowa Class BB - 887 ft.
Bismarck - 823 Ft.
Hornet (CV-12) - 889 ft. Long

Also there are certain speeds for certain alts that dropping torpedos works.
In a TBM I tested speeds that one can drop a torp.
Below 300ft: any speed should work, did not try above 450mph (Unlikely you will get a TBM at these speeds for a drop)
300 - 500ft: less than 200mph
500-1000ft: less than 100mph

I did that test a while ago and not sure if it still is accurate.

LOL rgr dat. Nice sarcasim Sea. It was an approx based on the Offline tank that floats in front of the ship. I just tried to help is all. I read his question...went offline and conducted the test. Went out in PT boat...went external view and checked the distance of that floating tank, and guessed on the CV length. Then i launched a PT Boat, launched a Pedo and followed it in external view untill i matched speed with it and checked speed on the PT Boat Speedometer. For the CV speed. Its simple as pie...Launch onto the flat top..bring up the E6B feature and see the speed readout there in digital form

I have now measured it more accuratly with the help of a squad mate in GVs on the Flat Top.
We got 820 ft.
So. revised.

1. 39 to 40 mph. Im within .5 mph on this
2. 35 mph.
3. 820 ft.
4. Yards.
Im afraid this is as close as your going to get unless HTC post a reply for you sir

not 100% sure but i think german, japanese and us torpedos are diffrent.
Drop alt and drop speed wise at least. Will test it out.

They should be. US Mark XIII was notorious for failure when air-dropped even at correct altitudes and airspeeds (ironically, it was more successful launched from the PTs than the aircraft for which it was designed).
