killing troops

someone brought up a good point in the MA a few minutes ago. it should take more than a few cannon rounds from a Dora to kill the troops. maybe make the barraks more like a building that takes something like 3 1000lbs bombs to destroy. prolly a few buildings. in WWII, it would have taken more than a single pilot with a single plane to destroy all the troops at a base.  anyways just a thought.

you are thinking in terms of destroying a building. but destroying barracks is essentially killing the troops themselves. cannon rounds may not completely destroy buildings but they are essentially small grenades. consider you only need one or two grenades to completely clear an average sized room, then consider that a 20mm shell is equal to about one third the explosive and shrapnal of an infantry grenade. so logically, 3-4 20mm cannon rounds should clear out a room in the barracks. THEN considering the type of barracks that we have ingame is the sheet metal kind with one large or three small rooms, it should take about 12 20mm cannon rounds to nock out a single barracks.:aok

Yes, but you assume that all the troops would be huddled in the barracks knowing full well they'd be one of the first things attacked. But when the air raid warning goes off, you TAKE COVER, and NOT in the targets of choice.

I think you're supposed to hide under a desk when the air raid siren goes off...

also, durring the battle of Wake Island, many marines died because they had the bright idea of sleeping in the housing units durring the first night of the attack.

You guys are making the mistake of thinking the "barracks" are modelling an actual set of Quonset huts. AH models aircraft, but the rest is a GAME...

and the "barracks" arent really troop boxes. They're icons that STAND FOR the bases ability to mount a capture attempt. Their toughness isnt measured by what happens when you strafe a quonset hut or slit trench, its measured by the way game balance shifts when you tweak it.

Make em too hard, and its too easy to capture so the maps change too fast -- as soon as there's a numbers imbalance the big side is unstoppable. Make em too soft, and the maps last forever because you cant find anywhere with troops.

From a game standpoint, seems about right now.
Maturity is knowing that I've been an idiot in the past.
Wisdom is realizing I will be an idiot in the future.
Common sense is trying to not be an idiot right now

Could careless about the picture.  The "bright idea" portion was IMO, uncalled for.

I think Simaril is correct . But once again, the answer lies in Resupply motivation. Creat more motivation for resupply and the problem (slight as it may be) is solved. As it stands your lucky to get 1.0 Vehicle perks for resupply of a base that lack troops only. And you might get 2.0 bomber perks ( worthless) for resupply of a base needing troops resupplied.
