Still a one (or two) life event?
« on: February 05, 2006, 12:07:37 AM »
I was looking at the logs for Friday night's Squad Ops and it appeared to me that some players respawned an excessive (more than twice) number of times after the logs clearly show them killed. In one case, a player died three times before he got his first kill and went on to die and respawn several more times getting additional kills each time.

Let me say up front that I'm assuming that there is still a limit to lives and that these people were just not aware of the rules. However, if the rule is still in place, I would think none of these kills should be scored for that player's side. It doesn't make up for the possible kills the players on the other side could have gotten if the rules were followed but at least it wouldn't penalize the other side further during the calculation of the final frame scores.

Is anyone monitoring numbers of lives and adjusting the final frame scores to eliminate the extra kills these players are getting? Or has the limit on lives been dropped?

No, I am still looking over the score for Frame 1.  There are several issues to deal with before I post anything.

The FSO is still one life.  But in the last frame players who were in tanks or Stukas got a second life.  Those rules were clearly posted in the objectives.

Also, there is a 15 minute time after roll where pilots can re=up if discod or have calibration issues etc.

PM me any info you have in case I missed it.

Skernsk,

Thank you for the speedy reply. I'm glad to know the rules haven't changed.

The NE runway at A4 (as I recall) launched the 327th in the middle of the tree forest with no runway resulting in our pilots Wing and Zulu acquiring 4 and 2 deaths respectively.

The rest of us immediately towered out and relaunched from the hangar.
That's 6 unearned deaths for Wing and Zulu.

That launch bug should be corrected before frame 2.

I chose to use A4 knowing about the bug.  I put it in the objectives for the Frame CO instruct any players upping at A4 to use the 'H' to start and not the other start points.  This bug will not be repaired for Frames 2 or 3.  So be sure to start from the Hangar.

Reading the logs it was clear that many did not get the message and I am not concerned with any of the restarts.  In Frames two and three players will be able to restart if they crash while rolling out.

The situation Warlover is talking about has nothing to do with any players having trouble at A4.

Fields close at T+15 and then and only then do I look for players who respawn.

I will send an e-mail to the Frame 2 Allied CO as a reminder.

For the record Skernsk did tell me about the spawn point bug at A4 and I just spaced out putting it in the orders. I didn't remember it until guys started having problems at the start of the frame. At that time my connect went screwey. I didn't lose UDP, didn't drop out, could hear but not transmit on VOX, and had a locked text buffer. All the time my plane continued on course and after about 15 minutes everything settled out fine. But in the meantime I couldn't even type a warning. Dang

And not only did I know about the A4 bug, which I told my squad about, but I also learned the wooden wings snap off with the slightest touch. I kept taxing out of the hangar to fast and then would tip one way or the other when trying to turn .. and SNAP. Off goes a wing.
