Like it was a surprise they won?

Their deffence this season was rediculous.

I've seen college games that were more fun to watch than this one to be honest. I was hoping for a closer game, but I wasnt expecting one.

Not to mention the halftime show blew arse and the sound guys for the Stones must have been stoned because they they were dropping mic's and inst's like mad... One would come in, another would drop out. Kinda reminded me of a poorly conducted highschool play.

Even the commercials where chitty.

I'll say it again

The refs didn't drop passes at crucial times

The refs didn't make a bad pass at a crucial time

And the refs didn't bite hard on a trick play and get beaten deep at a crucial time

The Steelers made the plays when they needed to be made and the Seahawks didn't.

LMAO. The Steelers won the game before it even started.

If Big Ben didn't have that fractured thumb, it would've been a total blowout. Said fracture affected his pass strength and accuracy dramatically, and it showed.

Dude, I really didn't care who won. OK ... be fair ... after the Steeler fans booed Brady during the coin-toss I cared a little, that was really lame. The kind of stuff I'd expect from Raider fans. :D

But as a fan who watched the whole season and watched all the playoffs, to see the championship game so heavily influenced by the refs made the whole post-season seem like a waste. Usually in professional sports when ref's make a bunch of bad calls one way, they balance them out by the end of the game. NHL, NBA ... there's always a "make up" call in there to balance things. The NFL seems to be the exception to this, though. There was no balance in the officiating last night. And it wasn't just one bad call - it was at least half a dozen, most of which completely changed the tempo of the game.

Yes, Seattle dropped a lot of passes and bit on the trick plays. But if the ref's hadn't removed 10-17 points through their idiocy (or whatever was really going on) then would Seattle's mistakes have mattered as much? They did pick Rothy off twice, right? They did hold the Steeler offense to 3-and-out almost every series, right? How many 1st downs did the Steelers get in the first quarter ... one? When allowed by The League, they did move the ball effectively, right? Would the Steelers have kept their composure and executed as well down the stretch if the refs hadn't been so ... uh ... kind to them? We'll never know.

The Steelers barely made it into the playoffs - so saying they "deserved" this doesn't ring true. Both Denver and the Colts were as dominant this season, and the Pats were peaking at the right time to be a threat to any of them.

Scanning through the various sports web sites this morning, each one seems to have an article on the rotten officiating. Except nfl.com ... on there you have the official league position and Holmgren going: "Gosh, gee willickers, our team usually doesn't make that many mistakes." Welcome to The Machine.

And, yes, the half time sucked. The only commercial that was close to charming was the FedEx dinosaur one - the rest sucked. Boring. And does anyone at all think Jimmy Kimmel is funny?

This might have been the case "back in the day", but I rather doubt that it happens today in any sport. It lacks integrity.

As far as winning and losing goes, the Hawks lost WAY MORE than the steelers won......and the steelers know it.

Go think on that for a spell.......

Seattle choked on it bigtime...could advance well enough, but couldn't close the deal. They earned their loss.

Period.

once again, after your loss, i understand the "it wasnt us playing bad" thing, but...it was.  both teams did not play well.  the officials did not make seattle   miss field goals, make dumb penalties (yes he pushed off, get over it....holding?  what was his hand that we couldnt see doing?  not sure either), drop passes?  nope, refs didnt cause that.  bad clock management?  nope didnt cause that either.  throw a pick as you about to go into end zone?  nope, didnt do that either.   they did make bad call after the pick though.

bens TD?  replay is inconclusive either way, so you have to go with call on field.
they did get hasslebecks fumble right...they did blow a fumble by stephens though, called it incomplete, it was caught.

:cry

Rip, I can sympathize.  The officiating was as bad as that in the old Southwest Conference.
