It comes down to differences in morality between our country and theirs. We have a right to defend ourselves with force in this country, and they can't do it there.

It's quite unfortunate. :(

heres another interesting thought on the subject of executing innocent people.

If the possibility of accidently executing an innocent person is reason enough not to execute anyone ever, what happens if you sentance an innocent person to prison?  Logic being equally distributed would suggest that no person should ever be imprisoned because reality has proven that innocent people have been sentanced to life in prison.

How do we extract ourselves from this mess?

History class was socialism studies.  


It's ironic that the two best History professors I have ever had consisted of a Russian straight from the USSR and an 80 year old man who can turn any argument no matter what side back upon you.

It still brings a smile to my face how the old guy accused me of communism because I said that Jefferson purchasing the louisiana tracts (sorry, as I get drunker I forget more and more words, but not how to use them) was a good thing.  While I immediately took offense to what he said, he was right.  If I remember I'll try to email him in the morning.

lasersailor you are right, I remember WW2 education in history class consisted of pearl harbor, holocaust,hiroshima.



here is an interesting insight to the arab mind. My last stop today was in the Beaverton mall. After I dropped my parcel off and was leaving, I was walking by the Victorias Secret, coming in the opposite direction was 3 arab chicks in headscarves, 1 really hot, 1 hot, and a fat chick, The really hot one says to her friends as she passes the Victorias Secret, " I really like the stuff they sell here but my boyfriend doesnt let me have any"

yeager got it... if innocent people go to prison for life... is life in prison too harsh?

If some people have accidents in cars... should we ban cars?  how bout hiking?  bike riding?  mountain climbing?  ultralights?   scooters?  

If guns are involved in shootings do we ban guns.... even from those who break no law with them?  

If we could prove that no one would die in any car crash over 30 mph would that be good enough reason to lower the speed limit to that speed?

I know staga is googling but that isn't the point...  the point is that there are no sure things... you do the best you can without depriving too many people of liberty.

So you think its wrong to deprive people of the death sentence just because its dangerous and people can make mistakes? Like hang gliding?

You trust polititians with your life if you care to, I would rather not.

sorry pongo... have no idea what you are talking about.   If you murder others for no reason other than the thrill of it or for gain...  you lose all your rights.  The people wronged, and society as a whole, has a right to protect themselves from you.   It is far too risky to let you live if you are particularly sick.   Not even fair to other prisoners for that matter.

As for the government doing things for my own good?  Please don't.  I do not trust the governent with the simplest tasks like war much less anything else.
