Capturing works the same way everywhere. Destroy every building in the base's town (looks like a city, generally very close to the base with one online map as an acception.) and drop 10 paratroopers into the maproom. Troops that are close to the map room (generally inside or JUST outside the city's borders) will run in by themselves.

Troops can come from two sources: vehicles or plane. The C47 can airdrop troops from 800+ feet off the ground. It can also land and drop them on the ground, but the plane must be STOPPED. An M3 is a land-only jeep that carries the troops in. Finally, there's an LVTA2. It's an amphibious troop carrier that can traverse water at a VERY slow rate.

Remember that with all of those choices, the doors must be open for the troops to come out of the vehicle. The "O" key opens and closes the doors.

A couple of tips for newbies:

1) Ack must be down before you can drop troops. Even soft guns (ones that players can shoot) will stop a base capture, and EVEN if there's nobody in them!! If the field is far away from the town, you only have to deack the town.

2) On the map by each icon of a field there should be a yellow dot. This will tell you where the town is. Example, if there is a field icon and the dot is below the field, the town will be S of the field.

3) Vehicle fields do not have towns. Nor do most ports (exceptions noted below). You must shoot all ack at the V-field or Port, don't forget any! Then drop troops over the field, they will find the map room on their own.

4) Some maps have "Combo Ports" -- this is a port with a field AND a city all attached to the same base. These are hard because you have ack from the port, the field, the town, and if there is a fleet nearby, from that as well. These usually take a large or very coordinated effort to capture in the Main Arena. For these ports you must level the town as if it were an airfield, and drop troops over the town, not the port.

EDIT:

5) Troops are like bombs. You can salvo them. Type ".salvo 10" and you only have to fire them once. They have a set time that they take to jump, so it won't be instant. This just saves you from clicking the "Fire" button 10 times.

After reading Krusty's post, don't confuse cities with towns. Towns are used to captre bases. Cities are part of the strategical resupply system, which is a whole nother topic.

Players can resupply a field (cut a few minutes off the downtime of some dead objects) by using one of the troop carries mentioned above with "Field Supplies." Everything within a certain radius of the supply is "resupplied" and will come back faster.

Supplies will only help things that have a factory in the game. AAA will come up faster because there's an "AAA Factory" but hangers will be left alone because there isn't a "Hanger Factory" in the game. You can see what kind of factories there are by right clicking the map and checking the "Legend" selection.

Supplies will only be available at fields where the troop barracks aren't dead. Also, don't confuse field supplies with vehicle supplies. Many a new person has tried resupplying a vehicle field with vehicle supplies. Field Supplies will supply ANY base; Small/Medium/Large Airfields, Ports, Vehicle Bases, and Factories/Cities. Vehicle supplies have a whole different role. By dropping a vehicle supply near a tank (friendly or enemy) that tank has the option of taking the supply and "resetting" his tank; all damage is fixed, if it flipped it will right itself, and all ammo will be replaced back to the way it was when he launched the tank.

Enemies can destroy supplies (friendlies can't) so don't go flying a C47 over a field and drop a supply at 5,000 feet, because it'l just get strafed. Same goes for vehicle supplies.

Ah, yes, I'm sorry if I chose the wrong words. Fields have "towns" by them. Cities (icons show a big "C" on them) are strategic, and cannot be captured in the normal way.

Side note: Cities and such (strat targets/factories) are switching possession when the corresponding Zone base is captured. Right click on map and select "Zones" - the base where all the white lines come from is the zone base. As soon as the Zone starts arent yours anymore, they stop resupplying your bases.

im not sure if you can capture anything in offline mode but for sure you can if you open your own h2h room and fly in it.
Also note that you can change the downtimes of buildings and aa guns in the setup for the arena, i think its pretty hard to capture without changing it since the buildings keep poping back up.

You can do everything offline that you can in H2H.

The maproom is a small green lump next to the huge water tank. It has a hallway cut out of it and a door behind that.
