There's definately a bug present.  Jarbo and I dropped 30 troops (well landed would be a better term   ) without capturing.  I filmed it the second time, but I guess troops don't show up on film.

Both of my drops were made by taxing up to the map room, stopping, and releasing troops.  I watched all 10 of them go into the map room, the smoke kicked up at the door, but no capture.  Jarbo then dropped 10 more troops and we still didn't get the base.

I agree -- I have dropped 30 troops on field to get capture.  It has happened more than once but only at vehicle fields.

I've found if you land, and the troops upon leaving, clip any part of the plane,,, they will NOT capture!!!!!!!!!!!!
I no longer land troops but will only drop them...

I haven't experienced what you've posted, but I am not discounting a bug.  Just saying I've never had a problem.  Things I do when dropping:
1) If landing, I come to a complete stop before dislodging them.

2) I always check the altitude of the airfield I'm about to do an airdrop on, and add 650 feet to the alt of my C47, right before I'm over map room, I go straight up and salvo all troops (.salvo 10).

Could it be a bug with the particular  airfield itself?  Give me some airfield/depot numbers and lets investigate this alittle further.

The base was V59.  I came to a complete stop before releasing troops both times, and my aircraft was in perfect condition both times also.  I watched all 10 troops march over and enter the base as well.

CC on the bug, I've tried it as well, together with another JG2 member (cannot recall who, please remind me).

Dropped 30 troops, no capture. Vehicle field and the drop was above 800 feet.

For me, it adds something to the game; uncertainty. It makes my fantasy go all crazy and I think of Brit commandoes secretly hiding, killing my SS troopies
