Video bug
« on: February 15, 2006, 06:16:14 PM »
This has happened to me with both omega and ATI drivers.  Been a fairly recent occurance.  Maybe for the last 2 weeks?

A squadie reports the same issue but he hasn't changed drivers.

Load texture into ram and vid memory.

Everything starts out ok

Then I fly for abit and everything stutters then seems to reload into vid memory.  All the textures go white and are then reloaded?  Saw the Cnt = to the right of vid mem used, go from some number to 0 very quickly on at least 2 occasion.

Says I have 117. something mg of vid memory available.  Uses the same.  After 2 to 4 times of this stutter and everthing going white it reduces to between 30 and 50 mg of vid memory used and everything is fine and the stutters and stuff going to white stops.

Using a ATI 9800 pro with 128 of memory.

Ram is 1 mg.

WinXP.

Need more info let me know.  Don't know what system specs are for squadie that reports the same thing.

I'm hardly a tech guru or anything, but I had this problem;

1. When I alt tab, it has to re-draw the textures on the screen (this still happens with my current 2 gig ram machine).

2. It happened when I had too much spyware running in the background taking up space on the ram (again, on my old machine that had 1 gig only).

3. When I was running another program in the background that took alot up alot of ram (again, on my old machine that had less than 1 gig).

I'd try disabling the preload to the vid card, if one of the above isn't in question.
