Grass Fields

Now we all have seen in some old vintage films evidence of grass fields and it got my thinking, should AH2 have grass fields? Heres how I would have them implemented (feel free to add your version or anything)

Much like vehicle spawns, a grass field would be a "forward" field for mainly fighters, light ones that don't need a long tarmac. These bases would not have serious armament, perhaps a 20mm or two. Since it is meant to be a "temporary" field there will be no serious arms stored there. Other than a small bomb or rockets. No multi-engined bombers can lift, save for a Ju87, IL2, etc.

The point of the grass field is for small "snub" fighters (I love star wars words) to take off to meet any oncoming threat sooner than taking off at the full airbase. The distance between the two would be 10 miles. In order to protect these fields from GVs, the GV spawn isn't far away or you can chose to spawn there.

The field is wider than the full airbase, allowing for "emergency" landings. Instead of taxing to a pad, you can taxi in front of hangars and wait half the time allotted, but this is only for ammo and 1/4 of gas from what you lifted off with.

It is possible to knock out these airbases unlike forward GV spawnpoints. There wouldn't be any grass fields behind the front line, and would travel with the front.

What do ya'll think?

i remember back in AH1 there were small, hard to find grass airfields on BoB. you couldnt spawn there but it did have a reload pad and an AA gun. i always loved em cuz i could get back to the fight quicker and not have a VULCH beacon on.

I'm not sure on all of the changes, but I'd certainly support a variety in base layouts and types. I downloaded the Karelia map, and that is a huge improvement (imo) in regards to base design and terrain. It's a beast, as far as MA terrains go at 21mb, but has dirt airstrips, and piles of custom objects and such. After years of cloned cement bases, it's a very nice change.

I'd say give it a try in the MA and see how it works.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Probably because it would be a frame rate killer.
I dl this map and i get about 2/3 the fr from any other map. I"m betting online with the mass players in ma (500  or so players) fr would be way down. Dont get me wrong nice map but I just upgraded my pc I dont want to do it again for 1 map.
