For those of you who havent played on the new map in there check it out. The airfields are setup really nice, with new ways to play the game as far as capture goes. Details are fantastic. They did a really nice job on it.Once you fly there...it makes wanting to go back to an MA map very tough.

Granted, it's a beast, and I have to turn down some various details to maintain the same frame rates I get in the MA maps, but this is a very impressive map.  Castles, bridges, frickin sharks with frickin laser beams on their heads, etc. I love it.

no kidding my new box is down but I'm playing on my old one, it is:

3.2 P-4 2 meg cache
2gb ram DDR 666 speed
ASUS P5N32-SLI Nvidia chipset MB
Nvidia 7800 GTX 256mb

I'm seeing frames in the low teens near the ground and 75 above the cloud layers but drops dramatically if a few players begin to furball.

I love the map but it's rough on the equipment.

I should get my dual core/dual video card box back later this week.  let's see if it overloads that one.

Storch,

AH2 won't run on a dual core unless you disable one of your cpu's.  Not sure why but its the only app I have tried that will lock up with dual cpus.  Skuzzy says its not their problem but that pretty well contradicts the above doesn't it?

man oh man did the dual core machine ever lock up on me!!!!  about once every hour.  I had the guy who built the box for me get me an intel dual core in exchange for the AMD one.  are you saying the intel one will lock up as well?

I don't know about Intel but AMD and Nvidia seems to be a garuntee. You can work around the problem by disabling one of the cores but its rather rediculous to not use it just for one game.

I should have posted a little more . I agree the map is wonderful to look at.
Its just that I had done a $500 upgrade on my rig. I now get 40-50 fr in the ma on the deck. I have all sliders almost all the way to the left . Screen res is 1280x1024, and 512 tex size.
I was wondering if i turn down tex size and screen res would fr get any better for this map?

Yippie!!!!!!!!!!! Tonight it's flight time! :)

I didn't tried Karelia online, yet. Offline, with my Athlon64 3500+, 1 Gb RAM, Radeon X850XT, the first 2 sliders at about 80 % on the left and ground detail range slider halfway, 1280x960 (or 1024, I don't remember right now), 1024 texture size I have 60 fps (Vsync is on) in country areas and 35-40 in Leningrad, at full vis range. I'm really curious to see what I'll get online.

Bronk, I think best thing to do is to put details sliders a bit on the right, particularly ground detail range.

I get around 65 to 70 FR in the MA on a typical night.

Drops into the 20s on Karelia.  I've had to set my object size down to minimum, bring the detail to about half, and then take the distance out to 1.5 miles, got the FRs back to the high 40s.

Map has so many kewl objects, it's worth tweaking for, at least to me it is.

I'm tempted to use this map as THE excuse to ramp up my sytem even more :D

Im on a quite old rig

P4 3.0GHz
512MB ram
9600Xt card

Its a beast I have to turn the sliders down to about 30% to get FPS in the 40s all over the map but still its BETTER looking then anything that the MA has.

After flying on this map its gonna be VERY hard to fly on another map.

But the biggest reason is not the good looks its the playability. The game play introduced has sooo much nice new stuff which makes it much much more interesting then MA maps.

I was running my new comp full out in the MA and laughing at the great video.  Then I logged into the AvA and started crying.  lol

Seriously, I had to knock not only my ingame detail down but pull my video card settings back too.  Now I'm getting liveable frame rates in furballs and near the ground.  This map is a beast on frame rates.  But man its worth it!  First time I saw a bridge go up............BOOM!  Bwahahahahaha!!  Now THATS what I call STRAT baby!  :)
