Frankly, both work OK for me, if I can get the scratch together for the flight.  Gotta' admit, though, that the sound of Texas cuties in warm-weather gear sounds pretty good...

In the end, I only need to know one thing...You guys got a good trap/skeet/clays range out there?  Forget golf, I need a real game...;)

For me,  The Year is already getting booked up.   Iv got an Italy Trip, Oshkosh for a week, and Reno Air Races planned.    June looks very unlikely.   Fall Might have a better chance, depending on the dates.

I cant commit to either date at this time,  But Fall looks more likely.

I want to come to the Con whether it's in June or the Fall. Wife say's if I go I have to bring her and our 2 1/2 year old daughter...Has anyone else taken kids to the Con before? will it be child friendly?
Child friendly? Well, not really for someone so young. You will be watching her all the time unless you are the kind of parent that lets em run loose. I plan on taking my son if it is June. He is 10 and will have a ball. A squadie of mine that took his son in 2002 had a lot of fun also. They both will also attend and I expect them both to have a blast together. :)

Thx Daddog.  Either my wife or I would be watching her, she's not allowed to run loose or disturb others.  I'll discuss it with my wife more, but it is reassuring to know others take their kids also.

On that family friendly question....

Seems like when people talk about the con, the main variable is the degree of inebriation. I know some of thats just kidding around, but were not talking about an animal house lite here, are we?

Also -- Besides the obvious coolness of meeting people IRL and hanging out with those who share your unique addiction, what exactly happens at the con?

I've been to 3 of em and can't recall a single thing. Just Kidding :rofl

A lot of folks arrive Thursday afternoon for equipment set-up, a few laughs over Happy Hour and settle in to flying.

Friday usually involves a guest speaker or two. Sadly, there's not many alive or able to get around. HT & Pyro sometimes do a Q&A over development, etc. Friday evening normally involves a 2v2 KOTH.

Saturday morning usually means a trip over to the Cavanaugh Flight Museum for some up-close WW2 viewing. HT holds court during the banquet and prize(s) hand-outs and then it's on to the real fun...muahahahaha.

can you say "flying pt boats"?

Lambo31, Simaril did bring up a point. There is a lot of drinking going on but 90% of the time is very relaxed and friendly. Personally I rarely drink (never in excess any more, used to be a brawler) but those who attend are just out to have a good time with some friends. The language can be colorful but the atmosphere is lighthearted and fun. Some of the guys have… risqué pictures on their desktops. ;) My son and I will have a chat about all the above and more before we attend. If he is going to be exposed to “adult” material I would rather he be with me then experimenting with his buddies behind the garage.

Simaril meeting your fellow AH pilots by itself is worth going to the con. It will give you a whole new perspective on the game and the community. In 2002 HTC had a Q & A session that lasted about 2 hours. Was great to be able to ask Hitech and Pyro questions directly about AH and their plans. Sour who runs the ladder hosted a 2 vs 2 duel and my guess he will again. They usually have a nice dinner and then the Saturday night evil con mission is always a blast. :) DMax covered it nicely too. :)

Dale  if I fly to the con. what is the best airfield nearby? I will be in a FR-172 so small is not a problem closer is better.

I am thinking about going.  I could probably work either, but the fall would give me more time to raise the funds.

Thanks for the answers! Sounds really good, but it brings up another question.

Since a lot of the fun happens in front of a computer, what do guys do who are out of driving range? I cant really imagine taking a desktop rig on  commercial flight...
