What I've seen done before is a Con organizer arranges with a local supplier to have monitor rentals available, then you just bring your own box. I've done that as carry-on.

As to date, if June I can likely attend and would like to do so. October drops the likelihood a little, although not to "impossible".

what was said about the moniter rental is usually the case, also, it usually can eb set up to ship the tower to the hotel, and ship it home.

personally i drove (from wisconsin) just because a plane ticket, shipping, and all expenses were abotu equal. also i dont trust shipping my baby lol

Best option is an XPC sized rig you can CARRY ON WITH YOU.

Next best option is to FEDEX/UPS it to the hotel to arrive near the time you do.  You should let the concierge know ahead of time of course.  Then you can either make arrangements for the concierge to FEDEX/UPS it back for you on Black Monday (prepaid UPS works well) or stay till Monday AM and do it yourself.

You can of course purchase an inexpensive system (like emachine) in Dallas and just bring extra ram and a good vid card with you....then ship it back since youll have a pretty good packaging(Id recoment turning it inside out).

Least favorable option is to let the airline touch it in any way.  They specifically exclude computers from their liability, and since American is one of the main airlines going to DFW, and in the past 12 months they have lost at least one peice of luggage from over 10% of travelers (worst in the industry)         just not a good thing.

Last time shipping cost me about $70 roud trip....slow round trip

I have been to the last two ... didn't bring a computer and don't ever think I will bring one.

I go to put faces to people, drink, bullchit and generally socialize. Had a blast both times.

Who's ur buddy??  :lol

Agree with Slap on this....faces w/names.... lots of BS and tasty adult bevs.  Since I live in Dallas, I'll have my puter there... all are welcome to jump on and fly it if they wish.  Just bring your stick and maybe a usb flash card for your settings.

Fall Might Be Better Now
« Reply #102 on: March 06, 2006, 06:57:14 PM »
Just found out a required refresher class on the subjects of roadside brain surgery, scraping pieces of people off fenders, and other such things important to my job as a fireman, will be in June sometime, but the dates ain't set yet.  If the Con and the class conflict, I'll have to go to class to keep my job.  Thus at present, with neither Con nor class dates certain, a fall date might be better for me.
