is the X52 worth the extra cash?

What are the differences?

I had an X45 that I simply wore out.  I decided to upgrade to the X52.

I wish I hadn't.

My $0.02...not worth the extra cash.

Some 2 months ago i had to decide to buy a X45 or 52. I finally settled for the X45 because of itīs rocker rudder control, the X52 is a twisty stick. I had twisty sticks for years and did not like them, for I tended to apply rudder when i did not want to ;)
The x45 rudder control worked very well for me, but many ppl had problems to reach those buttons though.

I use to have the X45 but had trouble with the rudder-rocker, nerve damage in my 4th and 5th digit in my left hand, so I couldn't squeeze it all the way and really struggled with those left hand turns.  I upgrade to the X52 after I finally realized that my Ol' Sidwinder was done with and with only 4 views working on the hat-switch and roughly 4 buttons working....I was not fairing too well.  I like the twist-grip because I tend to get a little wild flying and seem to pull the joystick all over the place..... uhhh sorry, my mind got sidetracked there!
Worth the money for me....

from a couple of X36s to a bunch of X45's ( get service plan so you can trade it in for new one for another $12 service plan every 12 months) to a single X52 (got service plan on it too)
went back to the X45 as the X52 had too light a touch for me and the throttle wasn't laid out as well as the X45 for my setup
I use rudder pedals so the rocker is another trim for me

I like the X-52 a lot, got the extended warranty (Best Buy) so if it starts to act up, back it goes for another  :)

I truly hate the twisty stick part, I really miss the throttle/rudder/rocker combo.

I've been using the twisty rudders for so long they're second nature...

I know that the X45 has a mouse cursor button on it....I normally use Mouse panning in the game....how does it work with the x45?

Other than the twisty rudder and (advertised) 'commsystem' on the 52....are there any difference in button amounts...(oh, god.....my grammar teacher is having a coronary right now)

it basically boils down to weather you want rudder pedals or twisty stick both top notch control systems

I decided against X52 and for X45 for two reasons.

First, i dont like twisty sticks and i couldnt afford pedals.
Second, the X45 has a tighter spring. The X52 feels way too loose for my liking.

Neg points for the X45 on two things. You got to fix it to the desk somehow, both throttle and Stick base arent very stable. And the rocker rudder is hard to reach for people with small hands. I think that is because the hand holds are designed for use next toi the chair, not on the desk. You can either reverse axis on throttle or (like i did) install it at a 45 deg angle.

Besides that, its a great stick.
21 is only half the truth.

Hm, i did not need to fix my combo to the desk. Only the throttle had the urge to slide over my desk, but only until I found that screw on the underside which allowed me to reduce the friction of the throttle action.
As for the rudder rocker, Schatzi is completely right.

the x52 has good grips..doesnt move at all on the desk...the twisty rudder is horribly unergonomic...pedals on the way....other than that i love it

Yea mine has awesome rubber stoppers on it.

It also came with a plastic bag full of suction cups, if you opt to affix it to your desk with those instead
