Still got a little to do. (got delayed due to reworking of some layers).

Pink Spits were used by the RAF for low level photo recon missions (called "Dicing Missions".  Apparently the pink color made them blend in with the color of the horizon and harder to see.

One question: Didn't all planes use full invasion stripes on D-Day? I thought the partial stripes came into use some time later (early fall maybe). Not a big deal at all, but I saw the date and wondered.

Yes they did, 16 Sqn was the only (I believe) "Pink Spit" FR IX users.
Never seen a pic of them with full D-Day stripes.

The pictures etc are from August 44 I believe not D-Day so it would be partial stripes.
