OK, I made an attempt at a slide show. It's all pics from the last 3 Chino airshows. Would love to share it and get some opinions, but it's 30meg. Any suggestions?

30 megs? Yikes, how'd it get so big?

I just finished a Mardi Gras Movie with 90 still pictures(1504 x 1000 resolution), and 640 res video plus 3D effects and music...that is 7 minutes long and its 30 meg big...(Used Pinnacle Studio Plus)

What resolution are the pics? WHat program did you use? what format is the final product in? (Don't tell me Powerpoint or I'll never speak to you again! ;) )

Not powerpoint.

I used the Windows Movie Maker, it is set to music and has visual effects on each picture. About 4 minutes long. The pics are not high res at all. Maybe 50k to 200k.

Is there a way to reduce the size?

Reducing the size usually reduces the resolution. My 30 meg film is 720 resolution (WMV..streaming). If I go to 320 res (which sucks, but gets the point across) it drops to 11 meg.  I did notice that the WMM default transitions tend to be alittle heavy on the space. Try just using the fade in, fade out transistions next time to see if helps reduce it.

Mpeg is significantly smaller than AVI if you choose either of those formats.

I'd give you some space, but I don't get much with Comcast and I'm a cheap skate! :p

I'd be more than happy to host it. I can also give you some space and account on my server so you can host your other stuff.

Great job, MT! Very nice...I was wincing ahead of time thinking you were going to use a bunch of dorky transitions but you stuck to the basics which is good IMO.  The panning effects was done well too. I don't normally do that much panning (in and out) unless I'm focusing on an expression of a subject, but with aircraft pics there is nothing wrong with liberal amounts of panning.

My sister (who makes these movies for a living on the side, and produces local TV commercials in Minneapolis) gave me some advice about transitions..."folks start using those psycadelic transitions, the viewers begin to lose focus on the content of the picture itself".

Still hard to believe that thing turned out to be so big for just 5 min long, I'm almost tempted to do a test between MM and Pinnacle Studio to measure the performance difference.(shrugs)

Mt, might I suggest you create yourself a video.google account and upload that there in the future.

PS: Just looked at it, nice! I noticed that I was able to identify most of those planes at 1st glance... does that mean I'm turning into a nerd, and that I shall be bald and fat in a few years?

Very nice!
