I was having a debate with a squadie last night, but we couldn't come to an agreement.

WEP in AH, does vary from plane to plane. I know that LW planes have longer wep, but when it runs out, can it be renewed? Or once it is gone is that it for the sortie?

The duration of WEP in limited by the temp. of the eng.
As the eng nears 150 degrees then you lose wep,let the eng cool and wep rebuilds.The la-7 has the longest wep i believe at 10 minutes.

i dunno, it seems to go on forever in the dora lol

JR, the wep differs from plane to plane, in duration, fuel consumption etc, but all of them can be reused, even the water injection in the 47N, which in real life wasnt the case, but hey...

same with LW rides, they used wet wep, which ran out and needed to be refilled every sortie, and could only be used for a certain duration. but in AH, wep is neverending, you just gotta let the engine cool

WEP systems vary from plane to plane....LA5's and 7's have a large ammt. So do the Luftwaffe aircraft. I believe most WEP recharges at a 1:3 ratio...for every one second of WEP..you must not use it for 3 seconds to get the one back. I think the only plane that has a very fast recharge is the KI84...may be mistaken on that one though. WEP also tends to decrease your fuel efficiency...except in the case of the P47N where the water injection acutally makes you get more bang for your buck if I remember correctly.

Use wep to climb to alt, shut your engine off, leave plane on auto climb so it glides, for 15 seconds. Watch temp gauge plummet back down.

Engine back on, and you've got enough wep to get you out of trouble if you need it.

I don't know how hot it has to be, but watch the temp gague in your cockpit, you can tickle the red zone but it won't last much past that.

WEP cool down time is 2-3 times longer than normal running time. I.e. 5 minutes WEP 10-15 mins cool down (for full cool down, that is).

Most planes have 5 mins WEP. It doesn't change much from plane to plane. Exceptions are:

Ki84: about 3 minutes

LW planes: 10 minutes

LA5/7: 10 minutes

Planes without WEP: no minutes.

You can run WEP til it gets hot, then wait 40 seconds and try it again, but chances are it's only dropped 5 degrees, and when you turn it back on it passes the heat limit again in 3 seconds. So you have to wait "enough" for the engine to cool that the next time you need WEP you will have enough.

I never used to use WEP much. I still don't, except in certain planes that really require it, and usually just to accelerate or zoom.

That is one of the things I liked in AW was how they had WEP. Once it was used up, it was gone period.

Well, when you have things like fuel burn, having a finite resource for WEP doesn't help.

Also, consider that only some aircraft used water injection. Some were simply rated for xxx rpms at xxx boost for so many minutes, and did not require an injection boost.

Keep that in mind.

A lot of specifics? Hell man, I was vague. I pointed out that NOT all engines are the same, and NOT all engines have reserviors that can run dry, so having a finite system punishes about half the planes in the game.
