I guess I'm really "spamming" the tech forum lately. :)

My McAfee has just expired. I am a bit less than happy with their product and the way it seems to really clutter up my system. Is Norton any better for anti virus control? I will have to decide soon which to buy. I'd appreciate your thoughts on which works best and is a better buy.

I have AVAST, and it works really well...  You can download a free home edition. but you have to renew it every year.  Norton is probably the best, but as with the best, you will have to pay for it.

Renewing every 14 months after getting a reminding e-mail isn't too bad, IMO. Compared to many other registrations they only ask for a valid e-mail address to send the code to, name (any name will do;) ), country (for statistics, I suppose) and an agreement tab that you aren't using it for business purposes. Highly recommended! Modificable, multilanguage, lightweight and -best of all - free.

Besides, absolutely no security program is 100% reliable.

McCaffee is a virus...Norton is ok...AVAST is Great, especially considering the price.  "Free"

I also like AVG Free.  No problems in 3 years on 3 boxes and I get as many liscences as I want for the same price - FREE!

I use a lot of Norton and McAfee (including Norton corporate stuff at work).  I go back and forth between them depending on which is the most obnoxious software (in terms of being a pain in the neck for running games, putting in mutiple pop ups frequently, etc.).  Their relative obnoxiousness changes version to version, with some years Norton being more obnoxious and some years McAfee being more obnoxious.  Right now, I judge Norton to be much more obnoxious and infuriating to work with than McAfee, so I have switched to McAfee for my home computer.  I'm reasonably satisfied with McAfee, although neither of them is close to ideal in my opinion.
