Joystick Problem. Someone please HELP!

Hi All,

I have an i-controller dual axis joystick which I use for flight simulator. Despite calibrating it both in windows and the game as soon as I take off the aircraft goes out of control by banking to one side and crashes.

Anyone got any advice?

check your joystick settings in the config menu, where you can see the lines move when you move the stick.

The game issues a pretty complicated flight model... first got to make sure its really a joystick problem. Also try to take of with a p38L with light load and see if that goes well with combat trim. If so then you experience the usual slipstream effect of high powerd single engine ac.

With light load he means little fuel (25%) and no ordinance (bombs/rockets/drop tanks). Since weight is modelled, this makes takeoff a LOT easier.

Combat trim is a feature that trims your plane level in flight automatically. Combat trim does not take flaps and engine torque effects into account, also has its limits at very high and very low speeds.

You can also trim your plane manually. But i wouldnt worry about that for the beginning, youll have enough to think of as it is. Combat trim works fine in 95% of the planeset. (I very rarely trim manually).

A sure fire way to test your stick: use "auto take off", if if takes off normally and goes straight.. your stick is good, if you start to wonder / spin its not centered.

You may even check your joystick settings in the "Setup' section to make sure it isn't set up too sensitive. I had same problem myself.

Actually, one of the first takeoffs I ever did in AH happened the same way. You stalled out and the plane you were in fell from the sky. Lose the bombs, rockets, try a lighter fuel load (just don't run out while you're flying!) and try a plane that's easier to learn in, like a spitfire or a p51 or a la7.

Learn to listen for the stall horn. It's that buzzing noise. It warns you of a stall. Don't pull up too hard or you'll stall. You can gently ride the edge once you get used to it, but don't pull sharp moves while your stall horn is blaring -- especially pulling hard "up".

If i had the buzzer on during some of the stall and knife fights ive had (that often last a good few minutes) i would have gone totaly mad from the constant ugly noise.

I considered changing the stall buzzer file so that it says 'congratulations, you are no longer flying but merely falling with style' but gave up on that idea after failing to find a woman with a sexy enough voice to record said .wav.
