The Vanishing Router

Well, this is an odd one, I must say. I'm hoping someone here has experienced it so I don't have to talk to India.

I've got myself a Linksys WRT54GC router. It has 4 WiredLAN ports and 1 wireless connection. The computer is connected to WLAN #1 and the modem is connected to the "Internet" jack.

Here I am, minding my own business, being pissed at Verizon, and trying to figure out what kind of settings are needed to get the damn internet to work when all of a sudden, it's gone. The router just kinda...left. All of the correct lights are lit and the computer connection blinks every once in a while, even when trying to access the setup through browser OR the CD. However, the CD setup software doesn't see the router and bringing up the IP of the router (192.168.1.1) in a browser or even trying to ping it heeds no results.

Trouble-shoots that I've shot:
1. Reset the router (10 seconds on the button)
2. Connect/Reconnect thousands of times
3. Power down the router for 2.5 hours (fell asleep...heh)
4. Switch CAT.5 cables
5. Reboot machine, DSL modem, and router at the same time
6. Mentally checked that I didn't change the IP address of the router while changing settings. This would be fixed by resetting the router anyway.

I'm afraid got a case of Skuzzitus on my hands here.

1st thing is that Linksys setup software SUCKS.  dont use it.

2nd, if you cant see the router plug the cat 5 from computer right into the dsl modem and see if you can get internet access

If you get internet access, put Linksys back in box, and get a new one.

If you cant I'd trouble shoot your network card.

I'm using my NIC, modem, and have used both CAT.5 cables to type these posts... :D

Thing is, it quit when I stopped using the CD and changed the settings via browser a couple times.
