Mouse Troubles
« on: March 13, 2006, 09:02:55 PM »
When in the tower, I'm able to right click on the clipboard and bring up a small menu of selections.  It's very nice.  However, when I'm in flight, the right click does not work at all, it used to work.  I figured it was part of a patch before some of my squaddies were 'right clicking' in fight checking scores recently.

I've looked for mapping/mis-mapping of my mouse buttons, and I can't find even where you'd do that to begin with.  Any help?

This is like the problem I had last summer with no brakes, a game patch fixed it, though the mapping was correct.  Given choice, I'd rather have brakes when landing planes.

I've also discovered I can't control CVs because I can't use my right mouse button on the clipboard map.  The only time the right mouse button works is when I'm in the tower or hanger.

Anybody?

If you dont have a Joystick/gamepad, your mouse is used as flight control. Meaning, when in flight, the mouse doesnt move the cursor, but your primary flight controls (elevators and ailerons). To lock flight controls while in plane and use mouse to move cursor, hold down right mouse button. This of course prevents you from using your right mouse button otherwise.

Only way to fix it (and a neccessity anyway - its a System Requirement after all): GO GET YOURSELF A JOYSTICK!

Doesnt have to be anything fancy. Hatswitch (for views), rudder (twisty or rocker), a throttle lever and a few buttons will do. You can get a good one for 20$. Do a search in Hardware or even in this forum if you need more suggestions.

Trust me, youll find the game a LOT easier and more enjoyable.

I don't fully understand what you are saying about locking the flight controls.  I have a Saitek X45 joystick (I've had for the last 9 months).

Hmmm. Are you flying a bomber when this happens? If you don't finish the calibration sequence (toggle the U key to finish), this may be the cause. A wild guess...

ok......but, I still can't control a CV, the instructions for the game say to set waypoints by "right clicking".  And just to hed this off, I am the only one driving the CV, I can actually take command.

I don't remember using a right click to control ships.

Bring up the map, click on "SHIPS" , double click the ship you wish to control. When the ship window opens, click set waypoints. Then left click on the map and hold the button down to "grab" the arrow of the course marker and drag it to where you want it. Click set waypoint agin to add a change of course and set another waypoint.
