Budget O/U shotguns

Anybody have any recommendations either for a certain model or against?

I'm looking at picking up a Remington SPR 310  or Stoeger Condor Special or potentially something else.

Use will be for sporting clays and upland birds (grouse / pheasants).

I would go with a single shot, break open 20ga shotgun.  They sell shotguns like that at Wally World (that is walmart for you two people who don't get that joke).  I think I saw them priced at under $100 dollars.  $87 I think.  I can't understand why people pay $2500 for a over under shotgun.  The thing better be able to cook and wash the car if it costs that much.

But then again I just plopped down $1060 for a reproduction 1859 Sharps Infantry blackpowder breechloader from Italy (Pedersoli).

Well, it ain't exactly budget, but it is well worth the amount of money you pay.

I currently have a Dehaan Shotgun, imported by Huglu (from turkey).  It's possible I got that backwards, it's been awhile.

Anyway, my O/U was about 700 dollars, but it was beautifully crafted.  It fits me perfectly and it even has gold engraving.  I'm on the run right now, I'll see if I can dig up the link a little bit later.

If you can find a Tildiz (made in Turkey) then go for it. Having shot the Russian made Remington and the Yildiz I bought a Yildiz for sporting clays last summer. They are pretty even in price when compared to the Remington model but in my view the quality is superior. On Remington may be so tight right out of the box that its extremely difficult to open then after a few hundred rounds loosen up so much that you think its going to fall apart and another may not seem that way at all. But of the Yildiz I have never used one that didn't have a great feel to it and to me they are similar in style to the Beretta O/U guns.

Stoeger for the combination of price and quality. Hard to beat as far as I'm concerned! :aok
