Did you have bad luck with Dell? I've have 2 dell laptops at home, and a business Dell laptop for work. Our company (a big aluminum powered-kite factory) has recently signed Dell as our major PC supplier. They've been good to me for 3+ years so far...

No experience with desktops, but we had 2 laptops that had problems. Inspirons.. ive heard that the latitude models are of better quality.

What type of problems if I may ask? Perfermance, hardware, or software, or ATA?

Hard drive failure is the main problem we have had with Dell laptops.  But mine is 4 years old and maybe they are using better drives now.

yup, HD's that dell uses blow. i will never buy another dell. they're better off making blenders or toasters. They dam sure can't build a good computer that doesnt break after a year. Use junk to build a PC, get a junk PC.

Not to mention the frickin indians you talk to when you call up customer service.

Their POS company is why I build my own computers.

I bought the Gen 4, Dell's gaming machine.  I have had no issues with it other than a DVD drive that quit on me.  Dell replaced it at no cost to me and even had a guy come to my house and install it.:aok

The outer shell was flaky.. kinda like they were too big for the innards. That caused flexing and we got problems with the keyboards. Some keys stopped working until you twisted the casing juuust right and they started working again for a while. No other HW problems, but they seemed to be designed wrong. I think they were called Inspiron 6000.

Ah, rgr that. My wife has a Inspiron  1150, and I have two (one is company-supplied) Precision M70's (2.13 Ghz with 2 gigs ram) Fine machines! Rrrrrm! :)
