I've got a nice little yellow 65 Corvair Corsa 140 4 speed now. Has the full Crown suspension kit. I'm working on a 3.1 litre engine with two three barrel Zeniths from a 911 Porsche. The original engine was a 2.7 with four one barrels, rated at 140HP and actaully made about 130. The new one will make 300HP. If I can tuck them in the fenders, I'm putting 88 Corvette 16x9.5 wheels on it and 4 wheel disc brakes.

But I did own a a 1983 B2000. It's probably the same model as yours, I think the new model came out in '85. I worked the tail off it for 17 years as a farm ute. It was very reliable and cheap to run, but in the end I just wore it out and spares were getting hard to find for it.

I was lucky and it was a hand-me-down from my dad.  I sprung for a paint job, tonneau cover and a stereo.  Before I was finished with it, I went though two more stereos, tore out the exhaust and put in a header (yeah, a header LOL) strait back to a muffler, and installed a high performance Holley carb that did a great job of throwing fuel into the motor (if only it could have used it for something).  It probably ended its life in a junkyard in L.A. after being traded in for a '96 S10.  It had a leak by then and I went through five quarts of oil on the way down, most of which ended up coating the firewall. :)

man, you guys who still have your first cars allways facinate me...  I guess I just get bored and want to try something else... but then... had a couple of wives and too many girlfriends too..

Only car I have kept for a long time is my 55 Healey... they were getting hard to come by even then.   the only car I regret getting rid of was my 59 vette... just got tired of it at the time and something else sexy was calling me.

widewing... friend of mine had a 58 alfa in high school (not sure the model but looked like the pic)... I helped him overhaul it... they have sleeves in the motor and it was the first time I had ever seen anything like it... the brakes were a nightmare too.   Was an Ok car when it was done but my 100 6 Healey would beat it.  Think he paid $500 which was a lot back in 67.

I967 Mustang GT fastback, big-block (s-code for those who know) and a 4-speed "toploader", blue on black, deluxe/deluxe.

I paid $800 for it since it would not run (1980) and with a $89.95 clutch it was fine. I drove it for 6 years before selling it for $8K, my former college roomate still has it and turned down $25K for it recently.

My current "fun car" is a 67 convertible GTA, had it since 1987. Daily driver is a 2005 GT.

Graduated in `70.
I was lucky in the fact that Dad always had hot cars that I drove before I had my first one. My granddad had a `53 Plymouth that I drove a lot. Was a blast.

I built my first chopper when I was between 13 and 14. Always had one or two chops in the works through HS. When possible, I went anywhere and everywhere on my chop.
My first car was a `64 Nova. I had a black vinyl top, a marina  metal flake paint job and chrome wheels on it in a short time. After getting it slicked up I immediately wrecked it in a 7 car pile up. The town was aprx 600 in population. I became known as population control after that.
Next car was a `65 Mustang convertible. Without a doubt was the biggest POS of a car that I have ever owned. (Wish I had oiled the cylinders and put it on blocks :))
Bought a `68 Camino. Was a pretty good ride.
Then I got the ultimate chick magnet as far as cars goes......a `61 Vette. White with red interior and cheeeeerry. Only car that I have ever owned that I never grew tired of driving and never took for granted. Loved that car.
During HS years I had a few pickups that I played with and traded regularly.
I had a couple of toy cars also. One was a Renault which me and a couple of friends turned over on three different occasions in one day on the back roads. The other was a Fiat. Turned it end over end 3 times in a classic crash. Still carry the results on my right hand. :)
Had a `40 Chevy that I tweaked on. Was a nice old ride.
Also myself and a friend was in partnership on a `57 ford that we souped up and would break out occasionaly when we felt like playing "Thunder Road".

Graduated in 95.

During high school I drove:

1973 Toyota Celica.  Matching body panels is overrated.  18R, 4 on the floor.  It was a great car, it gave me opportunities to learn about auto repair.  Weber carb, mismatched tires, it was essentially a cars-worth of parts traveling in loose formation.  Confiscated by the Sheriff.

1983 Suzuki RX50 Midnight Special, a 50cc street bike which, when ridden by me, most commonly evoked memories of bears riding tiny bicycles in the circus.  I modified it to serve as a pizza delivery vehicle when the Celica was unavailable (which was surprisingly often).

1978 BMW 320i.  Fantastic car until the head cracked, as is the custom for those vehicles.  It had a 'Reactor failure' warning light on the dash, always wondered what would happen if that light illuminated.

1975 Audi LS100.  The less said, the better.  Highlight: The trip from Eugene, OR to Seattle, WA (290 miles) that took 3 days.

Yes, but it's called a Taunus. A friend had a POS Taunus with a modified text on the trunk "Anus".
