Graduated in '86
1972 VW SuperBeetle convertible (similar to above, but with stock wheels)

Found a Dr. that had one garaged with 12,000 miles on it.  Bought it in '85 for $4000.  Drove it until '96 and sold it with 120,000 miles for $2500.

Graduated in 87 . My first car was a 72 ss nova.
Took the engine and tranny from a vette. (think it was a 1970)
I was working after school and saturdays in a local salvage yard .
It was owned by a good friends dad.
As a matter of fact my friends first car was a datsun sundowner  (think that was the name) that we had put a early 280 engine and tranny in. That car was one hell of a sleeper.

Edit : just looked for pix of the car  was a B210 hatchback.

I got my Farmers permit when I was 14, that is when I began driving. Between 1974 and 1978,(Graduated 1978) I had several cars that I bought by working various jobs:

1961 Olds Super 88 w/ 455 dropped in it

1965 Volkswagen Squareback

1964 Falcon Futura Convertible with 302 boss dropped in it http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-1960-1969/1964-Ford-Falcon-Futura-Convertible-red-custom-ma-2.jpg (I sold this car to a collector, who then restored it to original condition and engine, and last I heard it was still touring some of these Classic Car events. Wished I would have hung unto this car, I loved it the most!)

1967 Ford Fairlane with 289

1968 Buick Wildcat w/430 ci.

(Note, none of the photos are mine, all cars similar to the ones I owned)
After I moved west, the next car I bought was the BIGGEST mistake in my life...a POS Audi Fox with 34,000 miles on it. By 60,000 miles, it was undriveable since just about everything that could go wrong, DID go wrong with that car.  I'll never buy another Audi as long as I live.

I graduated in 1977. My first car I purchased my sophmore year was a 1967 Falcon, which I got for $600.00. My senior year I bought a 1967 Mustang , with a 289. I paid $900.00 for it.  I look back on those days , and wonder how I had time to do anything. Being a student , playing football, which in Plano Texas in the 70's bordered on a fulltime job. I worked at a burger joint, also worked for my fathers construction company on weekends and in the summer. Plus  I worked partime for the local funeral home.

I was never short on money. Wish I could say that now.:huh

Except it had a black vinyl roof and it was NOT the hemi.

At the time, it was the "family car"; wtg DAD!
