You work for Blue Bell, NB?  Sounds like you know your stuff about the ice cream business.  Best i've ever had was home made though, can't beat that stuff even after you've frozen it in the ice chest for 2 days.  And boy, talk about a brain freeze, MMMM MMMM.


$4.99 for half a pint of B&J or Haagen Dazs...:rolleyes:

Dude don't get defensive, and start calling names over ice cream. lol.

If it's made with beans it should have some black flecks.

Blue bell, next to HEB generic, is probably the cheapest ice cream available here. Thats why it's everywhere, gas stations, hospital cafeterias, you get the picture.  I don't know what premium or super premium ice cream is and I don't really care, I'll leave the confection judging to the ladies. However I have been to a restaruant or two  and talked over a bowl of good ice cream. And I do know that when it comes to ice cream, density and consistency is all important. And that's where blue bell is no better than any other easily scoopable, half air and minimum milk fat, grocery store ice cream. Yeah it comes in lots of flavors, some of them weird, and I like to eat it. But I don't cream my jeans over it and I don't think it's better than most brands.



Actually I saw the first couple of threads about blue bell and I was thinking "hmm maybe I should try some of that". It didn't click that you guys were talking about the blue bell ice cream that is in every gas station this side of monterrey mexico. Heck even B&J's is more dense, at least it used to be, haven't had it in years.

First, at no point have I been "defensive". At no point, did I call you anything besides "Suave" (which is the name you have chosen here). You would know this if you had bothered to read my post (which, obviously, you didn't...because if you had, you would not have made the uninformed statement quoted above). Suffice to say, I have 25+ in the ice cream business (and I have the gold watch to prove it :)....and you don't. :) I have no problem if you don't like our product. I do have a problem when you post statements that are misleading, incorrect and uninformed about our product. You are welcome to you opinion, however, you might attempt to get your facts straight before you start bad mouthing.

Yes, I work for Blue Bell. Started as a utility man and worked my way into management. Nothing is better than home made. But, Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla tries to get close. :) Come to the convention and I will fix you up with a taste. :D

I would go to the convention but: I'm 16 and make ~$500 a month, work hours are anything but steady, and i'm in school.  But, I am going to be in the deep south at the end of May so you know where my first stop will be, the store for some Blue Bell and Moon Pies.  You guys should make that actually, Moon Pie ice cream.

This is great, taking ice cream opinions personally. We're taking the retardedness of the o'club to new heights here. I understand why you're taking it so personally now, you work for blue bell. Do you think that is affecting your opinion at all?

What facts am I getting wrong? You yourself said that the butterfat content is comparable to any other "premium" ice cream, and that the air content is also comparable to any other premium (7-11, HEB) ice cream.

It's just your average quality mass produced ice cream, and no matter where  one lives in the US he shouldn't have to look very far to find a better ice cream. Is this "bad mouthing" ?

I'm eating some Dreyer's Homemade right now, and I can't say I'm all that crazy about it...I got it from the grocery outlet though, so there's no telling what it's been through to get up here.  If you're ever in the Northwest, NB, pop into a store and get some Umpqua ice cream if you care to compare.  I haven't had better out of a carton, and as you probably could have guessed, I've eaten plenty of ice cream. :D  Couldn't compare it to Blue Bell though, as I've never had any.

Personally? Affecting my opinion? Hardly. Would I be suggesting competing products if it were? I don't feel so bad not, since it was obviously not just my posts you weren't reading. Read what you wrote and compare it to my response. The "average quality mass produced ice cream" is what you initailly described. As I attempted to point out, premium ice cream has less air, more butterfat and more "inclusions" (the business name for the candy and junk they add to it).
