Well, the mythbusters were actually responding to THAT specific video.  I believe their findings were that the video is a fantastic fabrication, but not representative of an actual flight.  I believe there was mechanical assistance or fleet filmwork in making that appear to be a man being launched.

The "ballistic" path and timing evident in the video is pretty consistent with being dragged up a wire and dropped.
