I want to buy an 18’ - 70# homemade wooden replica of a Native Alaskan kayak.  The owner lives in Skandia Michigan and I live in Tallmadge/Akron Ohio.  I know that this is a long shot, but what the heck.  I haven’t been able to find a shipper.  Or please respond if you have any shipping ideas.

Thanks,

eskimo

Yeah fedex will ship just about anything. I think the only catch is over a certain number of feet it can't be insured or arrival time garunteed. Before I got my A&P I worked as a stores clerk for an aircraft company. When we had to ship out leading edges of the wings we used your standard fedex and those where the only conditions. Weight and length wasn't a problem.

I forgot to mention to call them eskimo. Over the web it doesn't work but they should let you over the phone talking to an actual person.

So “eskimo” just happens to be some kind of codeword that gets them to bend the rules?  That’s kind of ironic considering what I’m trying to ship and my name!

:)

Thanks, I’ll call them

I've got a Silverado and a 12' trailer with a removable ramp.  Great for hauling 4 wheelers, deer and my little rowboat.  If it's a last resort I'd be willing to help.

I'm actually going to be in Toledo (most likely...but there are other locations depending on what airplane they want me to train in now) at FlightSafety for a couple weeks in early April.

I'm almost certain FedEx or other freight company would be able to move it for less than the price of fuel from Columbus to UP to Akron to Columbus or Toledo/UP/Akron/Toledo.

JTs drives a big rig, eskimo.  I think he's going to be up that way and is offering to help?

those dimension and weight limitations are mainly to keep something from jamming up the works on our automatic sorting machines.

Ah, I see.  I’m probably 4 or 5 miles from Gilchrist and 76.  I’m probably about 2 or 3 miles North of County Road 18 and 76.  The guy who is selling it could probably deliver it somewhere too (I think).

Thanks for even considering it JTs!
