X52 and no brakes
« on: March 23, 2006, 01:42:37 AM »
Since installing an X52 to replace my broken x45 I have lost some stick and keyboard functionality.

I no longer have brakes from the stick or the keyboard. grrrrrr..

Anyone have a similar problem and a fix?

I cancelled my account for a month deleted all AH folders and reinstalled the game today. So I have a fresh start but still have this problem. The problem started with this stick.

There are also buttons that show to work in the windows calibration mode that won't show to work in stick map mode.

I have found that you must use the profiling software that came with your stick.
First go into AH and set up all keyboard buttons to do what you want then go into the profiler and map what ever button you want to activate each key.
For brakes I use space bar and told my stick that the small rotary nob on the throttle was a = to a key press and mapped it to the space bar, now when I roll it forward I get brakes and back shuts them off.

It would seem that AH needs an update for stick compatibility.

Once I have  a profile saved how do I use it? Do I need to save this to a folder in AH or does profiler somehow run in the background?

I tried only once to use the profiler and I had no idea what I was doing so I screwed things up so bad I eventually had to reinstall the game and uninstall the profiler.

When I tried to use it for some reason on bombers 3 engines worked together and one engine worked exactly opposite of the other 3. Skuzzy was not much help so I just uninstalled it so I could play again.
Please just a short synopsis you don't have to get to detailed. I just need the overall instructions on how profiler works with AH.

Thanks for the help.

If you have a profile set up I could modify to my taste that might save some time, but if you don't I will start from scratch? Question does profiler work in conjunction with AH setup or override it?In other words does my profile need to contain all functions I will be using or will it work alongside AH setup?

The Saitek profiler runs in the background, profiles usually have the AH-keys mapped to joystick-buttons.. Or at least that's how I've set my X45 up. Meaning that normal keyboard commands still work.

You'll have to install the Saitek Profiler when you're installing your joystick - sorry, I don't know how that happens with the X52, but with X45 you had to choose "advanced" from the setup to get the profiler. Maybe someone with X52 can tell you how it's done...

Anyway, here's a link to Eagler's X52-profile. Load that in your Saitek-software (or edit it to suit your needs), then you'll only have to check that you have the right joystick & axis in AH-stick selection.

Thanks for the help.

I have the profiler software installed.

I will load your setup as a base to start with.

Thanks again.
