i don't know where to post this, but i thought i should mention something.

i was just browsing the main site when i noticed something. it is not a criticism, but on the pages helping someone DL and install the game, there are some screenshots of the DirectX diagnostic. it is great that you have such a thorough set of guidelines for new people, but i noticed i could not make out what the DXDIAG box was showing.

i dont have great vision, but it is ok... and i am running a 1024x768 res on a 17" moniter..

i don't knwo what the "typical" AH user has, but just wanted to mention the reduction in image size on that page made the text too fuzy to read.

I know.  It is just there for reference, to show the basic layout of DXDIAG so when someone sees it they will recognize it.  The shrink down is a compromise between speed and fitting in the page format.

I have had people call in wondering why they cannot get the download started due to the images shown in the "Getting Started" section.  They keep clicking on the panel buttons.

I am seriously thinking I need to mess them up a bit so people will know it is just a WEB page graphic.

Just a thought but have you guys ever thought of maybe adding a link to DX or bundleing it in with the download an making it an optional install. Just an idea

Why? I think most folks have DX. It's a pretty important part of Windows, generally speaking. Windows update, microsoft.com, there are plenty of official places to download DX, and its updated often.

Doesn't seem to make sense to have HTC track the latest versions, host downloads (of large files, no less) when it's already up to date -- for most people I mean.

Doesn't seem like that's part of their job (in my opinion).

Cheers :aok

:rofl

though i can see that now that i look at it.

you could try making the colors odd or something. do like red title bars or something so it does not look like a default standard windows dialog box.

I am looking into watermarking them.  Putting a semi-transparanet HTC logo over them or something.
