Habu on Tour 2006 edition
« on: March 23, 2006, 05:33:42 PM »
Well somehow the wife has given me permission to fly down to Sun and Fun this year in the Cessna O2-a and also to take the long way home!

So after a few days at the fly in I hope to fly around Florida and see some of the warbirds down there and then fly over to Midland Texas to visit the CAF collection before heading north and back to Toronto.

Bohdi are you up for a short visit? I would love to see your place of work. Any chance on seeing that Beaver if I swing by?

If anyone else is at Sun and Fun and see the O2-A with Canadian registration FAC please say hello.

Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain

Bodhi is still around...

Problem is that you said "beaver", so he passed out again.

Well weather cut the trip short a bit.

Managed to get to Brandon Manatoba, Minot ND, Lubbock Tx, Corpus Christi TX, Mobile Alabama, and then headed back north to Toronto.

Four days of flying. Logged about 40 hours PIC.

The 337 is a very nice plane to x-country in.

Come out to the NW US sometime.
Great scenery, exceptional aircraft museums, lots of beavers & no convective sigmets.

This summer I plan on getting a few flights into the NW.

Tomorrow I am flying on Westjet to Florida to pick up a 182 at Fort Meyers and ferry it back to Toronto.

Bodhi is still here, he's just caught up in RL issues right now so he's rather busy. When ya leaving?

Seeing as Sun 'n Fun is over...I'd say he's already left.

Danny Glover can fly the heck out of the O-2A ;)

Danny Glover and that whole Bat 21 movies just stank as far as showing what FAC's did. The movie was a waste of time. However I own it on DVD and have watched it a few times.

The O-2 in the movie is not even an O-2. It is a civilian 337 painted to look like an O-2. The HF antenna is not on it (probably the most distinctive feature of the O-2).

It is too bad Hollywood can't make a good movie about a FAC. They had such an exciting and dangerous job that you don't have to add all sorts of Hollywood BS like they did in Bat-21. Just show the pilot and plane doing what they did (and getting shot at by everything with a gun on the ground in the process).

It's Hollywood what do you expect?

Heck they took Casanova and the kid who saved the Day After Tomorrow and made them gay cowboys.

You think they can't get to you too?  Watch your kneecaps...:noid
