something i didnt know until recently,

apperently your only alowed so many windows activations with windows xp....

so if your like me and reformat your hard drive every couple months or so, youll have to call microwsoft to get another activation code after X amount of activations......and thats everytime you reformat.

just a heads up:aok

The activation is flag'd when you have hardware changes, such as soundcard, video, MB change. MS takes a screen shot of yr hardware when u first activate - then compares it down the line. Its no big deal - just say your HD took a **** and needed to be replaced, and the manual activation pop'd up.

i've been through 3 motherboards since my XP sub started.

I've never "run out" -- then again I always activate it online. And I don't really do it a dozen times a month or anything.

KAW, you have a legit copy of XP right? If it asks for activation - activate it. Or if it activates and asks u to call the # - call it. Provided of course that the copy you have is licensed to you.

There is no activation # - it just sync's up with some database and that is it. The only time it will ask for a # is when you need to call a CS rep and they will give u a number after they verify you are who u say you are.
