Lets see if there is a litmus test here for your level of "smartness".

You currently now live and work in Hawaii and you want to go work in the Middle East in what is by all accounts a very inhospitible place both by climate and population behavior.

I have a buddy in BlackWater.  He is a Marine, came out a Lance Corporal in 1994.   He has been in since the Fall of 2004.  

The above shoots "the theory of Special Forces being the requirement".   I'll have to email him tomorrow.  Last I heard he was manning a SAW, mounted in the bed of an F-350.   His buddy was manning another in an F-250, he was killed by an RPG.

Didnt say it was a requirment I said that you have a much better chance if you are ex Spec ops.

Not anymore, they will take anyone that can pass the training. Your a body that makes them money. Of course you get a bit out of it too. We contract them out in Iraq and Crapistan.
Most bolo out because of the security clearance.

I read where they want to be able to provide a battalion size force for low intensity conflicts to the highest bidders.  Think was on Military.com this week.

Did anyone bother to read from there website there requirments or are you just pulling it out of your arses?
  I quote.

YOU MUST MEET OR EXCEED ALL OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: Must have minimum of one (1) year experience in providing protective security services in: special operations, US military special forces, US Secret Service, or other federal agencies, commercial executive protection services, or law enforcement experience (i.e. US Military Police/Criminal Investigation Division, local & state law enforcement agencies).

An ex 58 driver friend of mine is currently flying for BW...$800 a day for a 60/30 schedule...Granted they are making the big bucks because they are buzzing around the skies of Iraq on nights when the weather has all the regular units sitting safe and sound in their cots, and if they get shot down the only people coming to rescue you is guys that wanna dress you in orange pajamas and make you famous...Candy ass's need not to apply.  

Prereq is 3000 hours!  I am impressed with the MINIMUM qualifications. Not many guys that can fit that bill AND want to get shot at everyday too.
 
 
 
 
I dont know anyone on the "grunt" side of BW, but I really think you should put a lot more thought into this africa...Do you love your wife?  IS 80-100 grand for one year really worth the strong possibility of getting kidnapped and your head sawed off?

My partner has been with Triple Canopy for nearly 2 years now and only has good things to say about them.  As for Blackwater, Aegis, Dyncorps, his experience in working around them has been..mixed.


You don't necessarily have to be x specops, or even x anything to get in at Blackwater.  I had a 20 year old guy with zero experience who was in decent shape on one of my courses here with globerisk.com, and he was so horrible with basic small arms he was becoming a danger to himself and others, so we washed him out on day 2.  Well, he begged and pleaded to stay, so after spending 2 days of 1 on 1 training with him, he began to catch on somewhat resonably.  Fast forward to today, and he's been with Blackwater for nearly a year now.  Go figure.

In February, Blackwater USA, a North Carolina-based Pentagon contractor, began hiring former combat personnel in Chile, offering them up to $4,000 a month to guard oil wells in Iraq.

I certainly hope they pay Americans more then that.
while 4 grand a month may be alot for someone from Chile.
Thats Peanuts for an American considering the dangers involved.

Everything is waiverable.

There are Army cooks working PSS for Blackwater now.
