Any of you military or former military guys ever had them try to recruit you?

They are going to be here recruiting soon.  I wish my fat bellybutton was in better shape.  I'm going to apply anyway, but they'll probably just laugh at me.  Ah well.  For what they are paying I'll dress up in a clown suit.  :)

I know a couple of guys that took their fit test for security positions before they got out.  These guys were in shape and they said it was extremly tough.  Who knows they might be desprate.

The only problem with working blackwater in a hotzone is you have very little of the protections provided US troops as far as laws of armed conflict go and gratuity death benifits.

I doubt if there's anything in the Geneva conventions that protect mercenaries.

So, you have that going for you as well. :aok

The chances of anyone getting in that is not former spec ops is very small.

they have alot of positions needed, even so they hire strait up grunts and cops.  The testing is tough.

But like I said you do not have LOAC protections.

Mistakes happen in conflict.  Civilians get killed.  If you as a mercinary where to have a "mistake" and kill civilians you could easily be tried in criminal Iraqi court for your "crimes".

I have no illusions about getting in.  It's a pipe dream.  I'm overweight, out of shape, and have several physical injuries that limit my mobility.  That never stopped me before.  And who knows how desperate they are?  lol

From what I understand these guys have one of the best private military forces on the planet.  Heck, the guys that run it are all ex-SEALs.  They have special forces recruits from almost every country with a military.  I know I cant match up to those kinds of recruits, even on my best day.  I'm hoping more for a "support staff" kinda thing.  Wont know if I dont ask.

That may not be true.

This is a shady outfit, run by some shady people. Proceed at your own risk.

I know two guys that work(ed) for them, one was an ex combat controller, the other an ex-PJ Both stated it was the toughest physical exam they had ever done... Both are now dead! Reality sets in real quick. However, they both knew what they were getting into.

Blackwater is scraping the barrel now.  Most if not all the SEAL and SF types have made the big bucks and have moved on.  There are some real "winners" out there now.  Add Dynacorp and Triple Canopy also.

My own experiance.

Scraping the barrel = opportunity.  I'm not being naive, even in shape and all there's a damn good chance of not coming back.  If they'll take me I'll take my chances.  A year and a half out of my life would net me a pretty good financial stake.  Not to mention it would look damn good on my resume and open some doors for me later on.  Of course my wife isnt speaking to me right now, the last thing she said was "if you are stupid enough to want to kill yourself, there are easier ways."

Eh.  Either way, I'll know soon enough.
