A little dab will do ya. Just put a tiny pea sized drop on the little square thing on the top of your processor, the square thing on mine is white I don't know if it will be the same.

Then, just use your finger and spread it out so that it covers the whole little square thing. Also, I know this sounds like a duh thing but I've had people ask me before. Take the plastic thing off of the bottom of the heatsink if yours has one.

I got some advice from the PC shop.

So I just put a small ammount in the midle of the core, and then just put the heat sink on.

The thermal stuff will spread out under the preasure.

So I did not spread it out with my finger or anything.
So far so good, im typing on the puter now :)
Waiting for Windows to install all the windows updates :(

What NOT TO DO is what I did when I installed my first CPU !
Do not put the thermal stuff on any other components but the center core on the CPU.
I figured, that I put the suff on all the small black things (transistors?) on the CPU, and that was no good, PC did not even boot up. So I had to clean it and re-aply :(

Also, if you mess up and need to re-apply.  Use rubbing alcohol to clean the components... don't use any harsh chemicals or detergents ets...

Jay, Every ones got there OPinions.................T. Paste on the CPU......
old AMD XP's  had the little top side of the DIE  with out a metal heat spreader like the intels do, the newer ones like your should have metal shell covering the whole child and CPU......

key thing here for heat transfer..............(make it run as cool as it should)
it doesnt take alot, a solid PEA size glob, should do you just fine. If you have an old Credit card or some type of straight egde (good strait and smooth) use that to smooth the paste out.  you want it as smooth and even as possible.

TOO MUSH ISNT NOT GOOD !

Just a very even thin layer across the entier top of the case.(or as in trhe AMD XP's it was even less cause the actual area was 1/8th of the new metal cased ones)

a good smoothed out layer of paste with your stock fan and heat shouldnt be a prob (running stock or slightly OCed)

And no matter how tempting it may be, don't eat the paste Kar!

... stuffs got some really nasty ingredients in it.  Be sure n wash ur hands after you handle the paste.   A little thermal paste in the eye can REALLY sux.

I would not recommend useing your fingers.  The oils on them could mix with the paste and end up burning under the heat.  This could cause alot of problems down the road.  I would just let the two mush it themselves.

Don't put it in your eye or up your nose. Don't eat it or use it as war paint.

Little dab is good. All you're trying to do is thermally connect the metal chip layer with the sink face.
