Dont mind Jackal, to each his own. BTW, I dont like players trying to make others playing their style, sometimes criticizing them or jumping on them. But ... actually I did it

Us GVers have special needs - we're high maintainence you know (jk). Anyways always looked at the game as a Combat Simulator with more emphasis on flying?

I don't find myself in GV's much, not like back in AH1. One thing that you could count on though is that if you exited to the tower while on the runway at a friendly base you'd get a successful 'landing'. Seems that isn't the case anymore. Maybe it's a random bug but last night it happened to me.

It's not that I'm worried about maintaining my GV ranking of 1000+. It's just an annoying bug to me, but for those who take this game a bit more seriously, < Willy C. voice > I can feel their pain.

It`s not a prob. The original comment was meant as humor.
I used to get all fired up and bent out of shape over things in the game. Finaly figured out it was a waste of time I could be using to have fun with instead.
Pretty much all game play has changed since AH1 anyway so I just go with the flow and have fun at whatever kind of mood I`m in at any particualr time.
At any rate wouldn`t make much difference one way or the other to me since last patch. I`m getting the stutter stutter stutter FREEZE Splat routine. :)

I agree with you Cav – I would like to see changes regarding the ditch. It really sucks when you get a couple of kills and get low on fuel forcing a land at a VH Base. Just as you taxi onto the hangar pad at the VH Base (You have to touch the old concrete) along comes some Lancs to take down the hangers and just as your typing “.ef” BOOM “System: Hammy shot you down.” Majority of pictures I’ve seen and film clips of WWII Air Bases always showed planes lined up on the grass. If you land successfully and park the plane of to the side on the runway, on the grass – why get a ditch?

Must have been a total bummer not getting a ton of "atta boyz" for landing a 9 vulch sortie in a N1K.

 :cry :huh :aok

Strange though -

Airfield - Has to be on concrete
VBase - Has to be on the VH concrete
Port - ANYWHERE within the confines (concrete or grass) of a Port and get a good landing.

Theres consistency for you.

The solution is simple just code in a "safe area" which widens the runway but does now "show up" on your screen.

If your aircraft is within the "safe area" it is ollie oxenfree, if not then it's a DITCH.

This way if one part of the plane is slightly off the runway it would still be a good landing.

Boxboy, players would still come to the boards and whine about landing only "xxx" feet from the runway and getting a "ditch"

All, the line for a safe landing was drawn by HTC a long time ago.  It is where it is and they're not going to change it.  Land within the paramters given and you're fine. Don't and you have only your self to blame.

Pull up a clipboard map for an airfield.  I say that anywhere in that square that is the airfield should count as a sucessfull landing.

Just revers it.  Instead of getting a ditch when you touch the grass, make it so you get a landing if any part of the plane touches the runway pavement.

HT get his boundaries and the pilits a litle nore room for when they come in with half a wing and a PW.  If they land like that, WTH, give them the landing.

Everyone happy :aok

Just an F.Y.I. you can land successfully on other concrete at a V-base; e.g. where the fuel trucks are parked. I hope this helps someone.
