I understand why HTC has the ditch model as it is...if I interpret it right its purpose is more so that friendlys can get an easy landing wherever they want at an airfield underattack, and less of the "skill and challenged involved in landing on the pavement". In my perfect world the current ditch system should stay the way it is WHEN and ONLY WHEN the base is flashing and there is an enemy in range. Otherwise when the field is calm and there is no ensuing or inbound attack the aircraft, or vehicle should be able to land at any spot within the fields boundries no problem.
If this is not possible I have also come out with some suggestions in the "wishlist" that addresses this problem. First suggestion is create a tow vehicle, or simply a tow bar that can attach to a jeep/m3 or m8 so that a squaddie or friendly could tow the "ditched" plane onto the pavement for a sucessful landing. In my opinion I dont think it has to go as far as having a squaddie or friendly doing it. If there was a way to exit your airplane on the ground without it magically disappearing, you personally could hold "W" down and walk to the hanger and pick to tow up yourself and pull your aircraft back.
Secondly and possibly more practical. Aircraft supplies. If a 30ton tiger can get flipped upside down, tracks shot out, guns destroyed all while in the surrounding area of 30,40,100! tanks if its in tank town, and get vehicle supplies and magically be flipped upright and have all damage repaired instantly, then surely we should have the same ability for airplanes with airplane supplies? no? I mean this is a flight simulator, and why have GV's gotten priority over the aircraft in this category, that the community agrees to be extremely important.
