it is a -4.  Boyington did not fly that version.

pretty standard but try BuNo. 81924 served with VMF-211 in 1945 yellow leading edge of vert stab big 924 in front of the star.  IIRC had some red art work just under the cockpit.

I have just done a net search on the dash four, looked at about 100 different ones.  My conclusion; they all pretty much look the same.
