Anyone here into pitching horseshoes?
I used to throw shoes quite a bit, but haven`t done so in a while.
A few of us around here have started gathering materials , etc. to build some pits in my back yard.
Just got to wondering who here throws shoes.

I knew an old guy (my sister's father-in-law) who was an awesome pitcher. He was also a B-17 instructor pilot during the war. Loved to throw with him at picnics and stuff just to get him talking.

He threw a flat shoe.. kinda like a frisbee that made one exact revolution to the stake. I tried to do it and sucked horribly.

LOL I`m more the type that sucks until the 5th beer, sucks until the tenth beer, then blows chunks after that. :)

Actualy I used to be fairly good at it. Going to take a while to get back in practice. Just hope it don`t aggravate the discs in my neck.

Yea, I`ve seen people use that technique. I could never get the hang of it.

Ya just made me another project........my house in college(MSU) had pits and we played all the time......as well as i built pits/(rebuilt) back when i lived in Michigan for an old roomate of mine,   im 34 he was late 50's that old bastage could toss some shoes i tell ya............LOL i remeber the late nights of drinking and parking the 2 cars in the back ya so we could play in the dark at 3 am!!!

Well now i live in the moutians in NC............only flat spot is an old jeep trail!     I just fear losing many a shoe to the hill or even worse the lake if it rolls far enough!   maybee i could built some short lil walls along the edge of the trail and back from the pits.:O

I do pitch horse shoes when we have get togethers and set up a pit. I love it, lots of fun.

Friends of yours, or family? The one on the right bears a faint resemblence, except for the less than gray hair.

I throw a flat shoe with one rotation. Its not that hard. Its the range that gets me. Until I get locked in I can be a foot short or knick the top if the pin alot.  Aiming fluid really helps.

Sounds like a project for the yard, that site will come in handy.
