ATI Radeon Xpress 200 onboard graphics

Thought I'd split this out as a new thread just as an FYI.....

I'm totally amazed you can fly AH with this thing on line (even over a wireless connection) reasonably well. Took a D hog up after setting up my account on old box...actually had to auger the -1 I took up due to JS problems.....

I had AH loaded but didnt set up JS...plugged inm my X52 which it auto recognized and rolled a Dhog....set views on autoclimb and mapped flaps trim etc....perfectly acceptable framerates 1024 tex default sliders....

Framerates were 25-40 down low and 50+ up high with the onboard graphics....got 2 kills before I bought it. Overall gameplay was reasonably smooth with no major studders at all. Much better then my Ti-4200 was....

All in all for the bucks its a good PC for a casual gamer who wants a XPMC (HTPC) box....I'm sure once I clean up the garbage and optimize it for AH I can up the performance 10% or so.......

I have ECS RS400-A motherboard that has that onboard also.

I was amazed the graphics looked so good for a built in graphics card. The MOBO also lets you allocate up to a gig of system memory for video memory! If you had 2 gigs or more of system memory, you could make this onboard card rock.

But I only have 512mb, so I am using my old PCI 5200 Geforce card for now.

I woudn't be surprised if the ATI Xpress 200 replaces the crappy Intel Graphics by most MOBO MFG's.

Just got it on a Compaq from Fry's yesterday.

Compaq sr1830nx Ath64 3500+ ( Maybe the 3700? )
Processor; AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor with Enhanced Virus Protection
Processor Speed; 2.2GHz
Cache; 512KBMB L2 Cache
Bus Speed; 2000MHz System Bus
Memory; 1.0GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM memory (2x512 for ultimate performance)
Operating System; Windows XP Media Center
Hard Drive; 200GB 7200RPM Serial ATA hard drive

Downloaded AH to it and fired her up offline and it worked suprisingly well. FR's 25 up to 45+

Need to find my password from the old PC and try it online.
AW - AH Pilot 199? - 200?

mine is a 1730nx...was bundles with 8ms 17in lcd for $699/basically about $400 for the system if you accept full  retail as the price for LCD. It's actually an awful good LCD BTW...

not a bad system at all for basic gaming HTPC...great bang for the buck. I'd download FS autostart so you can weed out most of the process's running...is well up in the high 40's....got mine down to 20 or so...
