Ok, they looked like crap, but they won the world cup. Multiple times. Kinda like engla... oh, wait.

The Blue Max wasn't awarded in WW2 but some high ranking officers that had gotten it in WW1 did wear it (Goering for example, he was a fighter pilot in WW1).
The guy in the picture has the iron cross second and first class. The second class one is the one with the ribbon, first class is pinned on the breast pocket of the uniform.
