Into rods?
« on: October 09, 2000, 07:57:00 PM »
Any of you flyboys like street rods? Welp, last weekend my dad and his two brothers took a trip up to hershey, pennsylvania for the annual get together. They came back with four cars. My uncle Jerry bought 3 of 'em (he's loaded  ) and pop brought back this lil jewel. He's been looking for one of these for a while. He plans on street rodding it, you know, frame off resto, with late model running gear. Plans on buying a new cheverolet LT-1 to go in it. Either a ford 9-inch or cheverolet corvette rear end. We've built a few street rods over the years, and just looking at this thing gives me the hebe jebe's (SP?). I remember sanding on a '35 ford of my uncle Jerry's when I was a teen til finger tips bled. Was worth it though. His car finished #2 in the nation in the '89 ISRA points.

Back to the subject...
If any of you are into rods, you'll know the rarity of this car. It's a '34 Ford cabriolet, with roll up windows (instead of canvas) I'm told this adds a couple thou to the value. Sorry fer the bad lighting, just took these tonight...

Look dad, suicide doors!

flat head ford V-8 bye bye, make room for LT-1.

If anybody likes this thread, I'll go through the trouble of taking more pics in the daylight tomorrow.

Beautiful. I have a 69 Cougar convertable but lately my wishes have been for an older car such as that. Although die to my height, 6'5", I'd probably like a 49 Merc sized auto.
When I hit the lottery I guess  )

Just noticed your sig says your from Mass. This car came from massachusetts (SP?). at least thats the last place it was. We noticed on the firewall a couple of stickers from the bonneville salt flats dated '54 and '57. I'll bet this car could tell quite a story.

As far as affording it, I'm with you westy.   This is one of the most sought after ones to build a street rod out of. He paid over 30 grand for this thing. And thats with all the old drive train, fairly rough paint, etc. (although the body is very straight for a car of its age, little body filler) In other words, 30k just to get started. I've seen these cars priced at 50k and up, finished, depending on the quality of the resto job, etc...
