some questions... bit of help please.

the thread is here:

of the MA map i am planning on working on. playing around last night here's a few snags i have run into:

1. i used to use the AK BMP --> Map thingy, but i seem to have lost it. right now when i directly import my elevation grayscale BMP the TE makes a correctly elevated map, but it is all water. is there a way to auto tile it all to grass or something? it will take hours moving around the map just to make the land "land" otherwise. is there another utility out there that does similar?

2. i did tile a pretty decent section, probably 5 sectors, and wanted to see what it would look like. i tried the "make map" function, all i got was a solid blue bmp. i tried "build" first, then "make map" to the same result. i can't find anything in the help files about this.

3. after "make map" the mini map in the TE always is just a gray box. isn't that supposed to show a mini map so i can navigate a bit?

4. a year or so ago i played with this same idea, and even tried placing a field. there is an option "level terrain" i selected an area i think 5x5 and chose that, the screen flashed and nothing happened. in the past didn't that make all the selected area the same elevation?

thanks all

1. Tilesetter - search the forums for a link

3.You have to rename the created bmp to your map name and make it 256(8-bit)colors.

3. Inside your terrain folder "myterrain" you have your .elv, .typ etc. files. When you seleced "Make map", it created a file in there named "map" or map.bmp if you have file extensions turned on.

Rename it to "myterrain".
Create a new folder named "texsrc" inside your project folder.
Put the "myterrain" bmp inside the "texsrc" folder.

"myterrain" is the name of your terrain in this context but the "texsrc" folder stays texsrc.
Easy in-game again.
