I have to pay more in taxes this year than ever before. Any tax cut is a good tax cut. Less money for those fat arses in D.C. to throw around, buying themselves votes and voting for their own pay raises. GGRRrr.

Dowding, we get lots for our tax dollars.

We get to belong to the UN and send our large military to every toejamhole on the planet.

We get to support 3rd generation layabouts and listen to them squeak about the unfairness of it all.

We get tax supported studies costing fortunes to tell us things everyone with a lick of common sense already knows.

We get politicians lined up at the trough who, when they lift their heads, tell us they are doing all this for us.

And best of all, we get PBS.

Well, perhaps you ought to concentrate less on the partisan approach to politics, and do more on a cross-party level to make your politicians more accountable.

Corruption/sleaze is not a a party-specific problem in any political system - it is a symptom of the problems inherent in the method of government employed.

How many people would join the Forces if they knew they were going to be stuck in their home country for their entire careers? As far as I know, the prospect of travel and 'unusual' work is a great draw to the ranks of all the services, at least over here. I don't see how it would be that much different in the USA.

The 'Dome' itself has nothing to do with corruption, just bad conception and execution.

Certain people involved with it, on the other hand, have now been disposed of. But there are more heads to meet Madame Guilletine yet.
