Well, Pooface is right. A long contrail will lower frame rates if your up in or up close to it. But, as Raptor said, we can have an option on our Video Configuration that would allow us to check / uncheck contrails and such.

You seen the coad too, ehh?  How is it different than 2 tracers (talking about wingtip trails)?  Does your FPS really suffer when you fire the guns?  This place is full of experts on how the game is writen/works :rofl

well look at it this way, if HTC used the "smoke trails" (eg: oil leaks, hit rads/fuel tanks) for the contrails it wont take much to process it, the heat waves on the other hand, that would b a pain in the oscar to make in real time, would b amasing thou

#1. Contrails in WWII is what is known as today's "Vapor-Trail". It is the white smoke that is blown out of the back of an engine from some of the fuel running off the back. The heat of the engine then evaporates it thus making the vapor trail (Known as contrails in WWII).

Back to grade school Science class please.  The vapor trail you see coming off an aircraft at altitude is the effect of condensation of water vapor coming of the hot engine, not fuel, not smoke, it’s pure water vapor.  It take a combination of air temperature, Air density to reach the temperature dew point at which water vapor that is contained in the air becomes visible.   It helps that at high Altitude the barometric pressure is also reduced, helping the vapor change from a gas to a liquid.  Contrails or Vapor trails is nothing more then water vapor forming a cloud at high altitude.

Isn't there a rule on copying what someone else already said? Oh well, let's stop getting off topic.
