CH System loses stick mapping :(
« on: April 19, 2006, 05:40:24 PM »
I've been using the AH stick mapping to setup all axis & buttons on my CH system, problem is it keeps losing my mapping and goes to some default version.  There were a half dozen files in the settings folder that looked like they had to do with the mapping so I backed em up... that didn't work.  Why are my CH Pro controllers losing the stick mapping?  What files do I need to back up?

I don't know how to create a map in CH's software and don't think I have the patience to learn it, other people's maps usually aren't suitable for me either :(

Alky if you want I can send you my CH map.  Several other people have asked for maps for CH products and have sent them mine.  Some ended up downloading CHctrl manager but in the end liked my map and made a lot of sense where I layed the buttons out.  Give me your email and you can see if it works out.

Thanx Hoarach, you already sent it to me a few weeks ago, I tried it but the buttons just weren't assigned to what worked for me :(

I have the version 4 manager and it seems like a weeks worth of monkeying with it to learn how to make a map and I just don't have the energy for that.

If you want, send me what you want changed I can see what I can do or if you would like to do yourself, tell me what you are having trouble with and see if I can give you some guidance.

For the best help with CH Products, go to the source...CH themselves.

Follow this link to the CH Hangar website and try posting a question on their forums.

Michael, Debby, and all the gang there are the experts, and just all-around great folks!

I'm sure they'll be able to help.

Your CHs don't lose their mapping, they're just in their default purely un-programmed DirectX-mode when you start up your computer. You simply have to switch them into the programmed AKA mapped mode, either manually via the CM or the CMCC, or automatically via the CMStart utility:

"CMStart is a small utility that you can use to reactivate your Control Manager map file at Windows restart. Normally, the Control Manager starts in "Direct" mode and to get the map activated you need to run the Control Manager and click the "Enable Map" button. CMStart will do this automatically without the need to run the Control Manager each time.

To use CMStart, you need to create a shortcut to CMStart.exe in your "StartUp" folder. The CMStart.exe file is located in the folder where the Control Manager was installed. The method for adding a program to the StartUp folder varies between Windows versions. See Windows Help for more information on how to do this." (Taken from the CM's online-help.)

What DON said , even with my map , it always defaults to direct mode every time i load the map . All i have to do is to remember to click the mapped mode button , and its fine . If i dont it shows in AH as seperate controls that have no assignments in AH . 38

I'm not using the CM Manager, don't really wanna go there. AH mapping works fine but I found that it loses the assignments to buttons.  It's happened twice and both times it was after I had moved the computer and pulled out the USB's (the computer was off both times).
It looks like I'll just have to deal with it, I was hoping some particular file held the AH keymap assignments, as I mentioned in the previous post after backing up several of the files in the settings folder and copying them back in to it when I had a problem, made no difference :(

Alky, happened to me once or twice....I thnk nits when I put a DIFFERENT item into the USB port that it dropped all the mapping. Make sure you're plugging them in the same way, I guess :)
Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
