I'm in the 479th Fighter Group, not the 475th. The 475th were the inbred bastard brothers of the 479th. While the 479th got to live it up in England with ladies on each pilots arm every night and killing Luftwhiners by day, the 475th had to sweat it out in the hot sun on some god forsaken island with only ugly over weight native women.

You'll have to forgive AKAK. As you can tell from his photo below, he's just a kid so he gets confused at times

475th of course was in combat in August of 43, while the 479th didn't fly their first mission until the end of May 44. Someone had to be out there taking the fight to the bad guys while the 479th was trying to figure out how to fly the 38. Of course once in England they couldn't ever quite get the hang of the 38 and gave them up for those 'Spam can" P51s. It's not AKAK's fault though, and those 479th guys are a good bunch even if they did have to give up their 38s

As for his comment about the women. I don't recall Carol Landis ever taking a ride in your P38. She did make the rounds in the Pacific however
