Bomer Drone Spacing
« on: April 23, 2006, 09:49:51 AM »
I know the bomber drones can go so far out before they go poof and some lucky guy gets a free kill (sometimes).  But what about the spacing between the drones from the lead one?  Just a though to use some tactics on taking down towns and such...  I know it could get gamey but I just though of it last night while hitting a town...  just a thought.

would be cool if there was a dot command that could set the spacing, maybe from 20 - 500 yrds, might be cool:aok

Wow, I am suprised I have not got tore up yet saying "it would be gamey" or something like that.  But man, think of the formation possabilities with this... like I said though, just a small thought from my simple little mind! :D

NO. Learn to read he is asking for variable spacing with the box we have now. Not for more buffs in a formation.

Now along with side spacing a 100 foot alt diff spacing might be cool also.
Just a thought.

Using a dot command for spacing & alt would give a simple added twist to the buffs. It could make the formation more vulnerable to airborne attack if they were spaced too far for the cumulative defensive armament of all three planes to be concentrated, but it could make for an easier run on towns & strat. I like the idea myself.

 .salvo 2
 .delay .10
 .spacing 350
 .alt 100

yeah cool I do like it

Well personally I wouldn't mind seeing diff formations possible.

Echelon left & right, line astern, line abreast.

Spaceing would also be nice. With the default spaceing we have now as middle of the range.

Be able to tighten it up or expand it out depending on target.

As for hitting strat targets & citys you can do a LOT with the .delay command.
Secret is to match your delay for your speed. Ie ju-88's might want to stay in the .15 - .2 range. Where ki-67's I've had good luck up to the .35 area if I was fast.

I think it wouldn't be "newbie-friendly".

Most think that the drones drop exactly where the lead is (even if in a 45-degree dive and the drones are 500d behind the lead!).

Spacing them out would make precision bombing, like killing hangars or specific objects, completely fruitless.

However. I would not mind that for town killing! Even when you have 3 formations, one left, one middle, one right, you still can't get a good coverage pattern over a town.

3 B-24s, 12x 500 pound bombs, wide spread, .20 delay, full salvo.....

bye bye oil refinery

"Excellent idea being able to adjust the spacing and alt of the drones or formation shapes..."

Would be sweet, indeed.
