how do you tell what video card??

I have a friend who wants to know what video card he has (nividia and or radeon) what is the cpmmand in windows run that you type in to see your configuration i used to know this but my age is catching up to me thanks for any help ahead of time,,, tatertot

While not the most detailed, right click on the desktop, select properties.  Then in the display dialog box select the settings tab.  The Display should indicate what type of adapter it is plugged into.  Or you can click the "Advanced" button on that tab and then go to the adapter tab.

Or alternative to that, run the dxdiag command and look at the display tab.

tater, i usu rt click on "my computer" in the start menu, select "properties", then "hardware" then device manager.  expand the "display adaptor" tab

or on xp, "system information" under "accessories" will prob do the same

Click Start/Run, enter dxdiag and click OK.  After the DirectX Diagnostic Tool opens, click the Display tab to see the card information.
