I'm driving along in osti while shooting at a La7 who's flying overhead. As I follow him with my gun there's the tree of death. I hit tree with one round and it takes my turret out. :furious :furious :furious

So you fired a high explosive round point blank into a solid object, and your widdle guy in the open turret got puree'd? This seems kind of logical to me.

Except the Germans had arming safeties on their cannon ammo. The round would have to travel a certain distance before it armed itself. They also had self-destruct fuzes to avoid the rounds falling back down.
